Community Celebrates the Opening of the New High School

Over 300 members of the Guilford community joined the GHS Building Committee and members of Guilford Public Schools to celebrate the opening of the new Guilford High School on Saturday, September 26th.

Senator Ted Kennedy, Representative Sean Scanlon, and State Comptroller Kevin Lembo, were present with First Selectman Joe Mazza, Board of Education Chairman Bill Bloss, Superintendent of Schools Paul Freeman, GHS Principal Rick Misenti, GHS Building Chair Scott Pinckney and student representatives from each of the four classes of Guilford High School to participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday afternoon. Guilford Voices, under the direction of Kevin Buno, opened the day's festivities.
Annual College Fair at Guilford High School October 15th, 7pm
The Guilford High School Guidance Department is sponsoring its 16th Annual College Fair on Thursday October 15th from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Guilford High School.
Guilford Schools Honors GHS Building Committee with Friend of Education Award

At Convocation on Tuesday, September 1st, Guilford Public Schools awarded its Friend of Education Award to the Guilford High School Building Committee in recognition of their outstanding service to the community for the oversight of all phases of the design and construction of the new Guilford High School.

"Our focus this summer, and in this coming year will continue to be on student learning. Our expectation in the Guilford Public Schools is that every child will be exposed to rigorous learning tasks every day in every class. We believe that instruction must be designed to invite effort on the part of our students, because we know that effort builds ability," Superintendent Paul Freeman states in his Welcome Back message.
Traffic Patterns at the New Guilford High School
During this next phase of demolition and parking lot and field construction, we will have temporary entrances and parking on our campus. We expect this condition to last until December, when our new and permanent parking will be completed. Until that time, there will be four entrances onto school property, which for the purposes of communication we will number from one through four, East to West traveling up New England Road.
Prescription Drug Take Back Day - Saturday, Sept. 5th
Please join the Guilford Police Department, State Representative Sean Scanlon and Guilford D.A.Y. for Prescription Drug Take Back Day, Saturday, Sept. 5th from 10am to 1pm at Guilford Police Headquarters, 400 Church St.

Bring all unused/expired prescription drugs for safe and proper disposal. No questions asked!
Guilford's Got Talent 5 - Postponed
The annual talent show sponsored by Guilford Park & Recreation, Guilford Youth & Family Services and Guilford DAY will take place later this fall. Please look for a new date to be announced soon!
